I gave this book 5 stars since Matthew Robert Payne backs up each key with scripture and his rich life experiences that made each key essential to knowing Christ. The 7 keys are: Obedience, Prayer, Asking Questions, Right Theology, Being Set Apart, Word of God.My favorite chapter was the one on the word of God since Matthew shows how you can analyze your favorite verses and really think why these verses are essential to your life. This in turn turns the head knowledge of the word into a heart knowledge and empowers you to engage with the word.
Matthew's stories of his life are encouraging but he also is vulnerable to show his mistakes so that we don't have to make the same.
If you are ready to have a deeper relationship with Jesus, this book is for you.

When we seek an intimate relationship with Jesus we have won the heart of the Father. Matthew gives concise guidelines as well as simple to follow.
Some stuff I already knew others was interesting. I have written my notes and put journal next to it to ask or to ask Jesus in my journal! I thank this author for being a good friend because he answers things I'm not sure about or can't hear God on. You are never too busy to spend time with Him! The more you seem Him, the more you find Him. Jesus, is funny, love, joy, and peaceful! He's a romantic. There's no reason why you should not be in love with our Lord Jesus!
I wanted intimacy as well with Jesus that's what led me to this book , can say it has help me in what I was not sure, and strengthen me in what I knew . In these hard day's is important that we know for sure if we are getting closer to Jesus, so we don't miss a day with out Him. I strongly recommend it, for it is very critical that we step in the right direction in this life, to enjoy the coming , thank you Matthew for your honesty .
I love this book! Some of these I already do. I have begun going through the gospels finding the commands of Jesus and writing them down. I spend a lot of time alone with the Lord also but He hasn't shown up in the flesh yet! I believe that day is coming though because I am much like you, alone a lot. I can say that I have women in my life who have supernaturally encounters with the Lord! They encourage me. We meet every Monday! They believe God RADICALLY! I am learning to a
LSO! He is AMAZING! I want more till I overflow! Continue two let the Lord use you! We need you! All praises to the Most High!
I loved this book. Mathew has a wonderful and genuine walk with Jesus. He is very transparent as he write about his own life and the different keys that Jesus taught him. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to develop a more intimate relationship with Jesus
Matthew is a writer who is transparent and full of grace who shares his own life experiences and scriptures in hopes that you too may apply what you learn in to cultivate a close friendship with the Lord Jesus. He tells you what he has done to have this like key 1 is Obedience. Did you know there are 50 commands Jesus gave us in the gospels? I honestly didn't want to put this book down. And I hope to be able to read all 20 of his books he has written so far. Colorado USA
